CLIF Bar Pace Team

We're pleased to have the CLIF Bar Pace Team join us again this year as the "official" Pace Team of the Philadelphia Marathon. They are looking forward to helping runners of all abilities achieve their Marathon goals!

If you want to run with a leader who knows how to keep even splits, get you to the finish within two minutes UNDER bib time, and enjoy the camaraderie of a group working together towards a common goal, the CLIF Bar Pace Team is for you!

HOW IT WORKS

It's simple! Each Pace Leader will run even splits (every mile will be run in the same amount of time) throughout the marathon, and by following your Pace Team leader, you'll cross the line within two minutes of your goal finishing time. During the race, your Pace Team leader will also remind you to eat and drink, as well as offer words of encouragement.

CLIF Bar will provide pacers for the following Marathon finish times: 3:00, 3:05, 3:15, 3:25, 3:35, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45 (NEW!), 5:00 and 5:30, and the following Half Marathon finish times:

  • 1:30 HALF - We offer a 3:00 full marathon pace team at Philadelphia; those seeking a 1:30 half will run to the turn at the finish line with this group.
  • 1:40 HALF (NEW!) - We will offer a half-marathon specific team for 1:40. Those shooting for a 3:20 full marathon can also use this team to get a perfectly-paced start through the half marathon point.
  • 1:50 HALF (NEW!) - We will offer a half-marathon specific team for 1:50. Those shooting for a 3:40 full marathon can also use this team to get a perfectly-paced start through the half marathon point.
  • 2:00 HALF - We offer a 4:00 full marathon pace team at Philadelphia; those seeking a 2:00 half will run to the turn at the finish line with this group.
  • 2:15 HALF - We offer a 4:30 full marathon pace team at Philadelphia; those seeking a 2:15 half will run to the turn at the finish line with this group.
  • 2:30 HALF - We offer a 5:00 full marathon pace team at Philadelphia; those seeking a 2:30 half will run to the turn at the finish line with this group.
  • 2:45 HALF - We offer a 5:30 full marathon pace team at Philadelphia; those seeking a 2:45 half will run to the turn at the finish line with this group.

Signing up to run with one of the groups is easy. Just check back closer to race weekend to fill out an online registration form. Undecided? You can also meet the team at the CLIF Bar booth during the Health & Fitness Expo and sign up there.

MEET YOUR PACER

You can meet your Pace Team leader before the race at the Health & Fitness Expo. Ask them about their marathoning backgrounds, how they fuel themselves during the race, and any other helpful tips you'd like to know from runners who've run more marathons in a year than most will run in their lives.

Pace Leaders will also be handing out free Pace Bands and samples of their newest bars. The Pace Band, by the way, is a secondary way to view the mile splits needed to meet your goal time. All of this is FREE to all registered marathoners!

RACE DAY

At the Health & Fitness Expo, they will let you know where to meet on race morning. You'll see them lined up according to pace and holding signs up with the finish times. Just fall-in with your group. That's all. No check in, no sign in, just meet them, and follow your Pace Team Leader to your best marathon ever!
